Rory Gilhooley was sworn in as a police officer with the Syracuse Police Department in 1994, where he served with distinction as a police officer for over 5 years and then detective in the Criminal Investigations Division for almost 20 years. During his decorated career he participated in thousands of investigations involving homicides, armed robberies, burglaries, assaults, arsons, and thefts. After graduating from Syracuse University Law School with high honors (magna cum laude) he took a two-year leave from the police department and served as a law clerk to the Justices of the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division. Mr. Gilhooley has also instructed police officers, deputy sheriffs, and state police officers locally and state-wide in various topical areas of constitutional criminal procedure.
