A seasoned litigator with diverse public and private sector experience, Joseph is able to tackle the hardest legal cases. He is able to handle both transactional and litigation matters, including appeals, bankruptcy law, criminal defense, labor and employment law, municipal law, real estate, public construction bidding and contract disputes, public meetings and records access, tax assessment challenges, civil rights, municipal bidding and contracting, public authorities law, business law, estate planning and administration and tax and mortgage foreclosures.
For more than a decade, Joseph served as an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Syracuse Office of the Corporation Counsel. There he represented the city, school district, public officials, and police officers before state and federal courts in various types of litigation, such as civil rights, discrimination, slip and fall, construction contract disputes, debt collection, and mortgage and tax foreclosures. He handled a range of transactional matters, including drafting and reviewing requests for proposals, drafting ordinances, and drafting and reviewing deeds and easements. Toward the end of his tenure with the Office of the Corporation Counsel, Joseph served as in-house counsel to various city departments and authorities, including the Department of Aviation, Department of Water, Department of Assessment, and the Syracuse Regional Airport Authority.
When not at work, Joseph enjoys playing golf and chess, taking long walks, reading books on history, and volunteering at his parish church and with the Volunteer Lawyers Project of Onondaga County, Inc.
