Thompson v. Southwest Airlines
N/AOUTCOME: Defense Verdict
Public Accommodation discrimination case tried in New Hampshire Federal Court. Ms. Thompson claimed that race played a roll in Southwest Airlines subjective determination that she would be required to ... purchase a second site in order to fly with the airline. Despite a defense verdict Ms. Thompson's claim made the airlines re-evaluated its training and procedures in how it applies the policy of requiring a second seat for large passengers. Ms. Thompson's goal in taking the case to a jury verdict was to change the behavior of this corporate and industry giant to prevent mal-treatment of passengers in the future.
