Smart, Reasonable, Reliable, and Understanding

I first called Eric when I was told by local police there was a warrant for my arrest in another county. I laughed and told him I've never even had a speeding ticket. He wasn't joking! He could have arrested me then but chose not to. Maybe because I was at my mothers funeral. I was told the charges w...ere harassment and menacing. I had no idea what had happened or what I had done. I didn't even know what menacing was (googled it) or how there could be a warrant for my arrest when I didn't menace or assault anyone. I called around to the geddes court house and Onondaga sheriffs office to find out what was goin on. They couldn't/wouldn't give me any details except they all said it was strange. I called Eric and told him some of the story. i thought I was set up to get arrested at my mothers funeral And he didn't think I was crazy or guilty! Turns out my moms widower went to the police with an employee of his and made false sworn statements to the police and received a warrant and a temporary restraining order based on pure fiction. Eric met me at the police station when I went to turn myself in. I was/am very appreciative given this was my first time in police custody. I was processed and immediately taken in front of the judge where Eric was waiting. The judge read the accusations and I couldn't believe the bs! Once Eric advised me swearing at someone in public is not menacing or harrassment, (in my case) I knew I was innocent. After months of adjournments and many trips to court the ada offered to drop menacing if I plead guilty to harrassment. I refused and demanded a trial. I was not pressured by Eric or his aid to take the plea which is also greatly appreciated! I was informed of my options and was not going to plead guilty to something I didn't do just to get it over. Eric said to me he would gladly go to trial. Trial was not necessary because the ada was not ready for trial and had no evidece. I think the reason it was dismissed was my right to speedy trial was violated. It was about 6 months after i was notified of warrant to dismissal. I also had warrant for two months b4 I became aware of it. Never did Eric try to charge more than we agreed on initially, even tho in dragged on. He appeared about 6-8 times on my behalf and actually tried and did help me! Very professional, quality, reasonable service! THANKS, Jake
