Go Pro Se and save your money!!!

I hired him through pre-trial motions for $2500 for an E felony which he said he would get dismissed with a single motion. Upon my refusal of a misdemeanor plea because I was innocent, he said he would withdraw from the case if I did not pay more, I have a witness who signed an affirmation to this. ... He misread NYC law for NYS law, missed the fact that the felony complaint was not only fraudulent, but had me committing a crime in Auburn NY when I was working in Batavia, NY (3hours drive west!). He is incompetent, and inattentive. He actually had to be called on his cell phone by THE JUDGE to appear in Court and represent me. Legal research, yep, on his cellphone in-between colluding with the DA. I am currently filing a civil lawsuit against him. Oh, and he waived speedy trial against my verbal and written direction (again with a witness) screwing me over for a 30.30 dismissal. 13 months later, I got myself out of jail by self representing (Pro Se).

Would not recommend

Jarrod Smith was impossible to get a response from. I have been trying to contact him for over a week and a half. He is representing my boyfriend in a case and his brother and hasn’t answered either of their calls or even talked to them and one of their cases is in two days.(On the 16th of February 2...022!) Anyone who recommended him is wrong for that because he hasn’t even responded to his clients and the voicemail box for his office is always full and no one answers their phones anyway so there’s no way to contact him.

Silent Hustle

I hired Mr. Smith to represent my brother in a criminal case. He charged me a ridiculous retainer, saw his client only once during the process and did nothing but submit teh same paperwork the previous attorney was going to. I hired him based on his word, passion of the case and expected results. He... put very little energy into the case and I would not recommend retaining his services.

I know who this is and I am sorry you feel this way. The retainer I charged was not "ridiculous" and certainly was less than any NYC attorney would have charged. Your brother made a choice and the client has a choice on how to proceed. Your brother took into consideration the proposed plea versus the immense exposure he would have beyond the 28 years he was already serving for a murder. Again, as in other comments I have made to disgruntle clients, attorneys do not get paid to guarantee results. If any attorney guarantees anything, you need to find another attorney. In this case, your brother did the smart thing, while you hiding beyond an anonymous negative post have not.

Do not reccomend

Did not set expectations appropriately costing me greatly. Misinformed and misled on many occasions. Very unresponsive resulting delays and misunderstandings.

This review that you have posted is not what I do or how I practice law. In fact, it is quite to the contrary. Sometimes things happen that an attorney has no control over and what this sounds like is that you do not like the result so blame the attorney. My apologizes for whatever happened was due to the legal facts of the case and not what I did which I can assure you was to the highest degree of ethical and profession conduct. My phone is always available to you should you wish to reach out to me to discuss your case, the result and this post.
