Samuel John Sugar

Mr. Sugar represented me as a result of two subpoenas for Oswego and Jefferson County Family Court Child Support. He was a magistrate who published guidelines for other New York State Family Court magistrates before he went into private practice. He gave me clear, concise answers to my questions.... He gave me reliable advice about what to expect from the magistrates, other attorneys and the plaintiff. When he spoke in court, he was clear and concise. He granted me appointments in a timely manner, and spent as much or as little time with me as I liked. He responded to my calls quickly, often on weekends when he was working at his office. He allowed me to do the background, tedious work for the cases, to save myself money, though he offered to do this work himself. His billing was fair and reasonable. He often left clear messages on my answering machine, with my consent. I appreciate that he kept me informed of the status of the cases. My only dissatisfaction has been regarding his receptionists. I only talked with each one a few times, so I never got to know them, and they did not get to know me. A consistent, reliable receptionist is necessary to relay messages reliably, accurately judge the importance of each phone call, and add to a client's feeling of confidence and security. I found that I preferred to leave messages on his answering machine. You probably would not like Mr. Sugar to represent you if you want to fight a case for selfish reasons. He has the children's concerns at heart.
