Leaving the Scene of an Accident with a Death
N/AOUTCOME: This girl was given probation, which she completed successfully and was able to move on with her life.
This was a tough case. It was a 19 year old college student who was driving home from dinner. A highly inebriated individual jumped in front of her vehicle and she was unable to avoid hitting him. ... Unfortunately the victim died. This girl panicked and left the scene of the accident as the victim's companion was on the median yelling obscenities. Had she stopped she would not even have been ticketed. She was looking at a lengthy prison term for a mistake. Through diligent effort we were able to provide to the Court testimony that putting this girl behind bars would create a second victim.
