OUTCOME: Decision quashed

At issue were proposals for settlement that would have entitled a successful litigant to attorneys' fees had the lower courts not held that the proposals were ambiguous and thus unenforceable. The Flor ... ida Supreme Court disagreed with the lower courts' determinations and held that the proposals were not ambiguous; thus, they entitled the litigant to attorneys' fees from the opposing parties that had not accepted the settlement proposals. The court explained that "nitpicking" of the proposals by lower courts unnecessarily injected ambiguity into the proceedings, creating more judicial labor, not less.
