Kim is an amazing representative

Kim has been amazing throughput my process of enforcement. Kim always returns my messages and phone calls on a timely basis. She is attentive and extremely professional. Most importantly I’ve felt like a friend or family to Kim and not just a client. She doesn’t just take care of my enforcement in NY... Kim has gone out of her way to communicate with a lawyer in another state to insure my proper defense because my ex lives in another state with my children. I can’t say enough about her knowledge and professionalism that is offering me the rights I have with my own children. I highly recommend if you have the need you reach out to Kimberly Allen for your defense. Thank you Kim

Extremely satisfied

I hired Ms. Allen to represent me in my divorce. She always explained all the legal issues and gave very sound advice. She was very honest with me - even when I didn't want to hear it and because of that, I ended up so much better off! She helped me sort through and understand all the financial issu...es and probably saved my relationship with my 3 children. If you need someone to get you through your darkest hour and give consistently smart advice, hire her. I would recommend her in a heartbeat!

No communication. A total failure on all levels.

I hired Kimberly to handle my divorce and the custody of my children. Besides marrying my ex-wife, this was the worst decision I have every made. Kimberly failed me and my children completely. Kimberly does not have regular office hours and she does not answer incoming calls. She has an answering... service that will tell you 7 days a week she is unavailable and in court. Kimberly failed to file any response to my ex wife's motion for child support, which has resulted in my paying more than $700/month more than I should be. I was unaware that such a motion had even been filed until I received the judge's order in the mail. Kimberly arrived late every time we had a court appearance. I was repeatedly told my case was moving along and everything was rainbows and unicorns, only to find out Kimberly never forwarded documents I provided her to the opposing council. She never forwarded the original motion for child support to me nor did she respond to the court. She completely hung me out to dry and then acted surprised when I advised her that I had hired new council and would no longer be needing her services. She is very difficult to communicate with. She does not respond to email and frequently I was emailing because she didn't return my call when I had a pressing question regarding my handling of my very messy custody situation. Divorce is stressful enough without your attorney adding more stress. I would highly recommend anyone considering hiring a divorce attorney look elsewhere!

Hi Jim, I am sorry that, if you had any issues or questions regarding your case during my representation more than a year ago, that you simply did not reach out to me to discuss it so I could clear up your apparent misunderstandings that seem to have magnified over all this time. In more than 30 years, never once have I failed to respond to a motion unless it benefitted my client to resolve the matter by stipulation rather than allowing it to proceed to judicial review. As you should recall, such was the situation in your case; we had full discussions about that motion for temporary child support prior to you instructing that I settle it without the time and expense involved in responding, since your obligation to support your children would be established based upon a straight mathematical calculation pursuant to the Child Support Standards Act – which it was. You and I had several conversations about it, we exchanged emails about it, and you were in court the day your support was established. It is for that reason that the order states that support was issued “on consent of the parties” and not “by default.” You also forget the windfall of benefits you realized on that order. The order did not require you to pay any retroactive child support and, as such, you went several months without paying any child support whatsoever – totaling more than $8,000.00. In addition, the order did not require you to pay any household costs including the mortgage, homeowner’s insurance, school or county taxes or maintenance and repair. Moreover, I did forward the documentation you provided to me to your wife’s attorney. In fact, I even went above and beyond by also forwarding everything by email. I have those emails. I’m not sure upon what basis you state that documents were not forwarded. As to your claim that I arrived to court late, once I was late because my children’s bus was late. I explained that to you and apologized. Even so, it was by less than ten minutes and I notified the Court in advance of the conference time. The second time, I was already at the courthouse, but in another judge’s chambers. You and the judge on your case were notified. As far as office hours, my stated hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. through 6:00 p.m. – although, in actuality, I work 6-7 days per week and often through late night hours. All office meetings are by appointment and not once did I ever tell you that I could not meet with you. As far as the majority of our communications being by email, I remind you that you work overnight hours and sleep during the day. I remind you of the time that you were outraged that I called you during the afternoon because you were sleeping and I woke you. If you look, you’ll find that your email communications to me were most often sent between 11:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m. If you would like to discuss this further, I am always happy to do so. If not, I wish you the best and hope that things get better for you in your legal matter and that you find some peace and resolution.

No integrity

I hired Kimberly for a simple uncontested divorce with no division of any assets. It was as clear cut as possible. She initially stated it would take under 2 months. Once she had the full payment up front she failed do her job. Papers had wrong dates and addresses and other clerical errors that I... had to correct! She would fail to respond to phone calls or emails for weeks. I had to hand deliver papers to my ex husband and deliver them to her because she could not be trusted to get anything in the mail. After 4.5 months, she finally stated that she had filed all the necessary papers in an email. What I found out later was that she waited another 45 days to file ANYTHING! She outright lied to me about and the only way I knew was that I had stopped by the court house to find out for myself when she had actually filed the papers. When confronted with her lie, Kimberly offered to give me back $200 as an offer "to make me happy" although she never admitted her lie. I declined as what she really should have done was to return all but the money that was involved in the actual filing of the paperwork. She is unethical and lacks integrity. It appears that if you have a simple case for which you pay up front, Kimberly will put your case on the back burner while she works on cases that she can constantly bill more for. I wish there were a way to give a zero rating.
