I had an interesting Trust to write for a client. The client (let's call him 'Boyfriend') asked me to draft his estate plan to leave some assets to his Girlfriend. Since Boyfriend is age 82, I ask "How ... long have you known Girlfriend?" (This question is to protect the best interests of my senior clients, as I want to make sure there is no undue influence by younger family members or caregivers). Boyfriend's response settled any thoughts of coercion. He said, "I have known Girlfriend for 82 years! We were born five (5) weeks and three (3) blocks apart!"
