OUTCOME: The matter failed to settle at mediation and went to Trial before the General Magistrate. I was able to argue for and unequal distribution in the property granting the asset to my client as she wished.

A Divorce Trial involving the distribution of property. The main asset in the distribution scheme was the real property. It was awarded to Wife in a Final Judgment from her first husband, so it was pre ... marital. As part of the divorce settlement with her first husband, she would get title to the real property when she bought the Husbands interest. She did this during the second marriage with money given to her by her father and by forgiving her ex-husband child support obligation. When she bought the ex-husband interest, she refinanced the property. At that time her current husband was include on the deed to the property.

Domestic violence

A Domestic Violence Case involving the parties’ minor child. The parties had been divorced for some years when there were allegation of abuse on the child against the Former Husband. This trial lasted ... through several days and involved witness from the Department of Children and Families from two Counties.

Though Wife may have had a need for alimony, Husband did not have the ability.

Adoption

It started out as simple Step-Parent Adoption. The birth father had not been involved in the child’s life at all. However, at Final Hearing he made an appearance and challenged the adoption. The matter ... was referred to the General Magistrate, and a Guardian ad Litem was appointed to investigate the Birth Father.
