School Board draws dangerous bus route, puts inexperienced, incompetent driver on it.
Aug 07, 2009OUTCOME: verdict for the plaintiffs for $2,600,000.00.
My client was a young man riding in a friends car on a busy school day. The defendent School Board had routed on of its school busess to a very busy stop intersection on a major highway in the county. ... The only traffic control was a stop sign posted 36 feet from the roadway. The defendant had a poorly trained, new driver who still had to have a helper driver manage the students on his bus. The helper driver, rather than watching for traffic, was doing the driver's paperwork. The driver crawled out close to the side of the road (violating Florida law) was unable to see the car my client was riding in directly in front of and pulled out. My client's driver had no time to react. My client was badly injured in his skull and brain, facially disfigured and almost died.
