That trial concluded on July 12, 2010, when Mr. Taheripour obtained a $480,030 verdict for plaintiff, a driver who was rear-ended at a rate of speed of less than five miles per hour. Defendant’s offer was only $2,500.

On October 13, 2009, Mr. Taheripour obtained a unanimous verdict of $2,650,000 in a federal trial against the Los Angeles Sheriff Department for constitutional violation and excessive force that result ... ed in the fatal shooting of Freddie Davis, Jr., a young resident of Compton, and injury to his brother Keyonte Davis. Of this amount, $7,500 was obtained in punitive damages against two of the Sheriff Deputies involved. While the defendants’ subsequent motion for new trial was quashed by the Honorable Otis Wright on April 5, 2010, Mr. Taheripour was successful in obtaining $151,545 in attorney fees for defending said motion. Mr. Taheripour took over this case when the Davis’ prior attorney had filed a motion to withdraw as counsel since the Davis family refused to accept $15,000 as full and final settelement.
