Did real estate closing
Heidi was thorough and answered all our questions. This is not our first purchase of real estate and I was pleasantly surprised by how smoothly and efficiently it was handled. No drama, reasonable, and easy to work with.

Grateful to this divorce lawyer
I wasn't married for very long so I didn't think I would be able to get alimony. Thanks to Ms. Cochrane's knowledge of procedural technicalities i now have the means to live on until I can get back up on my feet financially.

Sued in federal court
I was being sued for almost half a million dollars on a defaulted loan in federal court. Ms. Cochrane negotiated a settlement of less than $40,000 and I was able to move on with my life!

Knowledgeable and persistent
I had a positive experience with this attorney. She explained her fees clearly up front and was very persistent in going after what was important to me in my divorce. Although the divorce took longer than I expected, I was more than satisfied with the result. After we reached a settlement she also represented me in my real estate closing. I thought her charges were reasonable and the process went very smoothly. I would not hesitate to use this attorney again and actually recommended her to my brother-in-law when he was going through some family court issues.

Child Support
My ex-husband ran a cash business for years, so when I took him to court by myself for child support, he only ended up having to give me a fraction of what he should have, since his tax returns made it seem like he barely made any money. Thanks to Heidi, I now receive about three times the amount that I did before, as well as increased contributions toward the kids' health insurance and unreimbursed medical and dental bills, and my ex is finally paying his fair share.

Business contract negotiations and breach of contract
I contacted Heidi because my business was entering into a long-term purchasing agreement from a vendor and I needed someone to draft a contract that would protect me. Heidi was very knowledgeable and listened closely to my concerns. She even brought up a number of issues that hadn't occurred to me. I was happy with the final contract that she negotiated, but even happier later, when I had to sue the supplier for breach of contract. Both Heidi's initial contract and her litigation skills allowed me to recover what could have been substantial losses when the vendor failed to perform. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is considering entering into a business contract or who is in the process of initiating or defending a commercial litigation issue.

Father's Rights and Child Custody
After six supposedly happy years as a stay-at-home mom, my wife left me and the kids for somebody else. She moved in with him and almost immediately, she tried to get custody of the kids and child support on a temporary basis (we all know where that leads). Heidi not only made sure she didn't get the upper hand, but also made sure that I had primary custody, rather than my nut-job ex. She still has visitation, but at least the kids are still with me, who makes them, and not my love-life, my first priority. I'm glad I hired Heidi, because she understands the dad's point of view, instead of just trying to get me to give credit to the mom, as a lot of female attorneys seem to do. I definitely had, and won, my day in court.

speeding ticket
I live in the city and got a serious speeding ticket on a vacation in the Catskills. With Heidi's help, I had a minimal fine with no points on my license.

Divorce Lawyer
Heidi was extremely sympathetic and assisted me in obtaining an outcome that I didn't think was possible in my case.

I was recommended to this attorney by my legal insurance- the first conversation with her she seemed very attentive, said that it would be a quick case and asked for me to send her my basic details of case after signing retainer. After this, I did not hear from her for over 2 weeks, as she went out of a week on vacation- had no idea until after that she was going to be gone. Then a week later she had gone out for a medical situation (100% not faulting her for this- just gives timeline)- she then emailed saying she would be back in the office. Asked for one more small bit of info and said she would be sending over my papers- again, I did not hear from her. I emailed her to see status and got an automated message that she was again out of the office for over a week. Over 4 months after that initial contact, she did not file anything with the court and only the basic paperwork was completed- which she blamed me for taking so long because the "formatting was off" when she received them back- despite me opening them through Adobe in Google Docs- and this hardly seems a reason to not be able to file paperwork OR get in touch with your client if it needed to be edited. I said I was unhappy with the fact that this case she said would be quick was now drawn out this long with no timeframe of completion- or at this point, even a view of initiating the divorce. She emailed me back saying she does not need to disclose the "inner workings" of her office (as in- the fact her support staff apparently quit within this 4-month period and she doesn't need to to tell her clients she will be out of the office---) and then blamed me for the papers being too hard for her to go through. The page breaks were maybe different than she thought? I didn't edit anything- so it was exactly how she had put them together. She then said I was fine to seek alternate counsel. I replied that I wouldn't if she could tell me she would be able to file the completed papers as she had had them at that point for over a month. She sent an email back saying she was terminating attorney-client relationship and refused to return my paperwork with my information. I am now having to find another lawyer and start the entire process over. This time is stressful enough, and her incompetence just made things that much harder.

Not a good experience
We needed simple paperwork filed. She gave us a verbal estimate. Completely unresponsive to our many phone calls and emails for months. Not sure if she's a good attorney because she was unable to accomplish the task and does not communicate. My experience was that this was a waste of money and time. I do not recommend working with her. We discontinued working with her and coincidentally, her hours added up to exactly what we prepaid, yet our issue was not resolved.
