It is always beneficial to obtain Uninsured Motorist "UM" Coverage for situation just like this. Our client was hit by an uninsured motorist and did request UM when she took out her insurance policy a ... year ago. This afternoon we were able to settle her case for a very fair amount with her UM carrier. Had she not taken out the UM policy her case would have had zero value. Do yourself a favor and take out a UM policy if you do not currently have one.
