Supremely dishonest Lwyer

Terribly mishandled my divorce. Lied to me repeatedly and attempted to overcharge me by thousands of dollars: I had to threaten to complain to the Bar, after which some overcharges were taken off... When my soon-to-be ex offered insultingly low maintenance support, they NEVER countered with another ...one, despite my insistence that we do. They then made me go to court, after lying that I would have to testify. Which obviously turned out to be not true: when the judge asked if we could still settle,my 'lawyers' said yes... They then again failed to protect my interests and come up with a fair maintenance agreement, and encouraged me to accept the paltry offer cooked-up by my ex. All that after my 30+ year marriage.. I am now in a very precarious financial situation, all because of their failure to represent me in a professional, honest way.

Relationship: Fellow lawyer in community

"If you find yourself in the midst of a divorce and you live in the Capital District, you need to talk to Ellie. I do not handle matrimonial cases but I know a number of attorneys that do. The attorneys that have been the opposing counsel on a case with Ellie have described the experience in a number of ways. Some have described her as "cut throat" and others have described her as a "real fighter". Unanimously, these attorneys had enormous respect for her. Ellie is nothing short of a pure advocate. She pursues her clients interests with a tenacity that is unparalleled. I know that when I refer a case to a law firm, that referral reflects on my judgment. That is why I only refer matrimonial cases to Ellie and her firm. I always know that the person I am sending over is in excellent hands and that they will get the highest quality representation in a tough and complicated area of law."

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
