My client is a gay Black man living with HIV. 6 years ago he found himself unable to work due to his poor physical health and was fighting depression as a result. After successfully representing him in ... an appeal hearing for Social Security Disability benefits - which resulted in a significant award of retroactive benefits - I was excited to see that my client's life became more stable. Financial stability led to better health outcomes and gave my client the strength and motivation to pursue his entrepreneurial dream. With the goal of establishing his own clothing line, my client started his own e-commerce business, selling a collection of clothing and accessories that he curates with his exceptional sense of style and design. I have assisted him with a variety of issues, including trademark applications, sales contracts, collaboration and consulting agreements, corporate governance, licenses, and doing business online. I have also guided him through his Trial Work Period with the SSA to ensure that he smoothly transitions off disability benefits as his self-employment income increases. I am happy to report that the business continues to grow, despite the pandemic, and my client is expanding his enterprise and continues to be awesome.
