Alaina Kathleen Laferriere

I am currently a Senior Attorney with the New York State and Local Retirement System (NYSLRS) in the Hearing Administration and Matrimonial Bureau. Following law school, I was an Associate Attorney at Carter, Conboy, Case, Blackmore, Maloney, & Laird, P.C., practicing primarily in the field of civil litigation representing municipalities, non-profit organizations and professionals. While attending Albany Law School, I was an Associate Editor of the Albany Government Law Review and was employed by the Law School as an academic tutor. In addition, I served on the executive board of the Pro-Bono Society, organizing and facilitating student participation in such projects as the Albany County Family Court Helpdesk, Pro-Se Divorce Clinic and Training, and Prisoner Legal Services. I assisted in the representation of state agencies during my tenure in the New York State Office of the Attorney General Litigation Bureau and was employed in the legal department of a local municipality writing local laws and ordinances, defending claims against the municipality, and prosecuting traffic infractions. Further, I completed an internship with the Albany Law School Clinic and Justice Center's Health Law Clinic I am an alumna of the University at Albany, State University of New York, and following graduation worked for a non-profit organization which served individuals with developmental disabilities.
