John Thomas McManus

As part of Harris Beach's Energy Industry Team, John advises clients on various legal and regulatory issues concerning electricity and natural gas generation, delivery, and consumption. For example, John represents a major public utility holding company before the New York State Public Service Commission (PSC) in connection with the proposed acquisition of an international power generation company.

John often represents clients before specialized administrative agencies such as the US Environmental Protection Agency, the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, and the NYS Adirondack Park Agency.

John's permitting experience spans facilities involved with power generation, manufacturing, solid waste disposal, construction and demolition debris processing, wireless telecommunications, and housing. As a result, John has extensive experience the various State and federal environmental statutes and regulatory programs that apply to project permitting and siting. His practice regularly requires him to appear before a variety of federal, State, and municipal agencies.

Drawing on his extensive litigation experience and having clerked for a Judge at New York State's highest court, the Court of Appeals, John represents corporate and individual clients in all forms of dispute resolution, including litigation, administrative proceedings, arbitration, and mediation.
