Joanne Mary White

Joanne M. White opened her Family Law firm in 1991.  Prior to opening her own firm, Ms. White clerked for the Justices of the Massachusetts Superior Court.  Joanne graduated cum laude from Smith College with a B.A. in English Literature and received her J.D. from Boston College Law School.  She is a member of the Albany County Bar Association, the Capital District Women’s Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association and the American Bar Association.  She is admitted to practice in New York State and Massachusetts as well as the Northern District of New York and the Supreme Court of the United States.  She is a member of the Committee on Children and the Law of the New York State Bar Association and is also a member of the Collaborative Divorce Association of the Capital District.  Early in her career, she edited the 1st Edition of Pitfalls of Practice, a publication of the Young Lawyers Association of the New York State Bar Association,  edited an article for the Corporate Counseling Handbook of the New York State Bar Association and received a Distinguished Service Award for pro bono representation from the Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York.  She has volunteered as a judge for the We the People Competition of the New York State Bar Association and the Brookwood Secure Detention Facility, the Moot Court Competition of the New York State Bar Association and various Albany Law School competitions.  She attended Middlebury College’s Breadloaf School of English at Oxford, England, Middlebury Vermont and Juneau, Alaska.  She is a member of the Maryknoll Lay Missionaries of the Capital District.  In her spare time, she enjoys animal rescue, oil painting, pastel and pencil drawing, bicycling, skiing, ice skating, swimming, jogging, ballet, yoga, volunteering for intermission at the Curtain Call Theatre, international travel and socializing with her nieces, nephews and cousins located around the country and her three dogs.
