Ronald S. Lanza

I am a founding partner of Futterman Lanza, LLP, a law firm dedicated exclusively to elder law and estate planning, with staffed offices in Smithtown, Bay Shore, Garden City, and Melville, New York. For more than 20 years, I have helped individuals and families protect their assets, secure long-term care, and plan for the future with confidence and peace of mind.

My practice focuses on Medicaid planning and applications, special needs planning, guardianships, probate, and estate administration. Licensed in both New York and Florida, I frequently assist “snowbird” clients and families who own property or have legal interests in both states. I take pride in delivering compassionate, practical, and forward-thinking legal solutions—balancing extensive experience with up-to-date strategies in this evolving area of law.

Before co-founding Futterman Lanza, LLP, I served as a Senior Law Clerk at the New York State Court of Appeals and later for a Federal U.S. District Court Judge in Florida, experiences that gave me valuable insight into the legal system and strengthened my ability to advocate effectively for my clients.

I have been honored as a Super Lawyer in the Metro New York area (2020–2025), a recognition awarded to only 5% of attorneys based on peer review and professional achievement. I am also an active member of the New York State Bar Association and the Suffolk County Bar Association, where I continue to engage in professional development and community education on elder law topics.
