Jennifer Sophia Raguso

I am an attorney with extensive experience in Elder Law, Estate Planning, Medicaid Planning, and Special Needs Law, helping families across Long Island navigate some of life’s most important legal decisions with clarity, compassion, and confidence.

I joined Futterman Lanza, LLP in 2023, bringing over a decade of focused experience in elder law and estate planning. Before joining the firm, I worked at several well-respected law offices dedicated to serving aging individuals, families, and people with special needs. My work is driven by both professional expertise and personal understanding — caring for my aging grandmother and supporting my sister with autism has given me a unique perspective on the emotional and practical challenges families face when planning for the future.

My clients can expect thoughtful guidance and a personalized approach. I take the time to listen, explain complex issues in understandable terms, and create tailored legal strategies designed to meet each client’s specific goals — whether that’s protecting assets, qualifying for Medicaid, establishing special needs trusts, or navigating probate and estate administration.

I am proud to serve as Vice Chair of the Client and Consumer Issues Committee within the New York State Bar Association’s Elder Law and Special Needs Section, and I am an active member of the Suffolk County Bar Association, the Women’s Bar Association (Board Director), Business Network International, and the Smithtown Chamber of Commerce.

My work has been recognized through numerous honors, including Super Lawyers Rising Star (2016–2024), Long Island Business News’ Top 50 Women in Business, and multiple nominations for Bethpage “Best of Long Island” in both the Best Elder Law Attorney and Best Law Firm categories. I also received CALI Awards for Academic Excellence in Elder Law and Elder Law Clinic while earning my J.D. from Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center, and graduated magna cum laude from Binghamton University.
