I had the privilege of working with Karen McGuire during one of the most challenging periods of my life, involving a complex divorce and custody matter. What a blessing it was working with Ms. Karen McGuire! I went through an extremely difficult divorce involving children. It was heartbreaking trying to navigate shielding them from a narcissistic abusive partner. Needless to say, Karen was always there for whatever the children or I needed. Including... placing my partner in jail when necessary! Her relationships with her clients are more familial than business. I would give her more than 5 stars if I could!!!

I have had experience with 5 attorneys through my divorce and after due to numerous post judgement matters. Karen McGuire was the 5th, and I hope she will always represent me. I think it is important to discuss my experiences with other attorneys to give perspective regarding my review and why having... someone like her is critical in such a process. Many times friends and acquaintances will make suggestions that an attorney they know is the best at the matter at hand. However from my experience go with your gut. If you feel your attorney is not representing you satisfactorily, move on. After filing for divorce, my first attorney, who came recommended as "the" attorney to go to failed to file paperwork on time and was very pessimistic regarding the outcome of the divorce for various reasons. I felt in my gut he was not right. I moved on again to an attorney that came highly recommended. My second attorney and his partner took over the divorce process to completion. During the process, the senior attorney stopped answering my phone calls when I fell behind on a payment, which was very unprofessional. Needless to say, once I caught up, he started answering again. With such a delicate process, feeling abandoned takes an emotional, physical and psychological toll on top of the process itself. After having paid thousands in fees to be treated in such a way is terrible. The senior attorney also had an air of machismo that was palpable, always making promises that his results were superior to others. On the day of our settlement, his firm was not careful in their review of the divorce agreement leaving things out and also allowing my ex-husband's attorney to slip in changes that were well crafted. My divorce was finalized. Then began all of the post judgement lawsuits my ex-husband filed. I became aware of all of the holes in my divorce agreement that my second attorney firm did not catch and correct. These nuances allowed my ex-husband to make life after divorce stressful. More recently, I had to file a lawsuit since my ex-husband was in contempt; it was a straight forward case which my now 3rd attorney was not prepared for on the day of court. He acknowledged that the poor outcome was due to his lack of preparation. During this time, I also consulted with a 4th attorney who had a blog online and seemed to have all the answers. He filed a motion but did not follow protocol, and the motion was tossed out of court. I was then sued for custody for wrong reasons, and that is when I was directed to Karen McGuire. When the quality of your life is dependent on the outcome of a divorce, I have learned the hard way that you MUST have an attorney who knows the process and has experience working with and analyzing other attorneys' abilities. Retaining Karen was was the best decision I have made concerning divorce matters. Karen's firm has handled many matters for me, including custody. The experience I have had with her over many months has been dramatically different than in the past. I felt comfortable as soon as I walked into her office. The physical building is welcoming and calming. The sophistication of her firm and staff are immediately noticeable. Communication has always been professional and timely. Desiree (paralegal) is, without question experienced, provides a high level of confidence and compassion. She works seamlessly with Ms. McGuire. I was treated as a human being. Karen is commanding in court, and outside of court, her stature is one that gave me confidence.
