George Richard Tilschner

George R. Tilschner, Esq., has offices in Huntington, New York.  Mr. Tilschner’s practice has, for more than seventeen years, focused exclusively on areas of the law affecting the rights and needs of Senior Citizens and Estate Planning, planning for people with Special Needs, including Medicaid Applications and any resulting issues,  Long Term Care Planning, Estate Planning and Probate and Administration of Estates, Guardianships and Real Estate.

Mr. Tilschner earned his Juris Doctor degree from the Jacob B. Fuchsberg Law Center of Touro College in Huntington, New York.  He holds a B.A. from C.W. Post College and an M.A. from New York University.  He is admitted to practice law in the State of New York, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of the State of New York, Federal Court of Appeals, the Federal Court of Military Appeals, and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Mr. Tilschner is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Suffolk County Bar Association, past Co-Chair of the Elder Law Committee of the Suffolk County Bar Association, and a past Officer of the Suffolk Academy of Law, and is currently a member of the Advisory Committee of the Academy. He is an active member of the Elder Law and Special Needs, and Trusts and Estates Committees of the New York State Bar Association. He also sits on the Board of Editors of the New York State Bar Association Elder Law and Special Needs Law Journal. 

Mr. Tilschner is also past President of the Suffolk County Estate Planning Council, a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the American Bar Association and a member of the Legal Committee of the Alzheimer’s Association of Long island. He is also an accredited attorney with the Department of Veterans Affairs.

A frequent lecturer on the topics of Elder Law and Estate Planning, Special Needs, and Social Security Disability, Mr. Tilschner has presented educational seminars before numerous community and professional organizations across Long Island and New York City, including the Suffolk County Bar Association and the Suffolk County Women’s Bar Association.

Mr. Tilschner has resided in Huntington for more than twenty years and is active in various community activities. He is an avid reader and runner, having run ten marathons including the New York, Long Island and San Francisco marathons.
