The grown child of the couple contacted me. Wife had never seen a bill or written a check in long term marriage. Husband had taken care of everything. Took several sessions and I brought a financial c ... onsultant in to assist wife due to the large size of their estate (several million). I saved this couple many thousands of dollars in a contested divorce. OUTCOME: Partial Agreement
On temporary orders, parties & their attorneys agreed on many items so we entered into signed agreement on those items. They will go before the Judge on the two items we could not agree to at our medi ... ation. The mediation took 4 hours & typing it up and signing took another 2 hours = total 6 hours.
OUTCOME: Impasse
Both parties & their attorneys said mediation would last 1 hour. I declared an impasse after 6 hours. We came very close to settling but the parties just would not sign the Mediated Settlement Agreem ... ent when it was presented to them.
OUTCOME: Case Resolved
Child custody, child support & divorce case involving 3 minor children. Attorney warned me in advance that this was going to be an difficult mediation. Two of the 3 children attended mediation to spe ... ak to me. Before the mediation was over, the 2 kids were going from room to room visiting with their parents -- something I was told would NEVER happen! At the end of the mediation after the paperwork had been signed, the parents were cordial in the reception area, again, something I was told would NEVER happen. Both parties were very satisfied with the settlement reached in this mediation. I resolved the case in 4 hours - speed mediation!
