I am an attorney located in Commack, NY. The majority of my practice is dedicated to Divorce and Matrimonial law, including issues that often go hand in hand with divorces, such as foreclosure defense. I represent people at both the trial and appellate level, and my skills as an appellate lawyer allows me to create a good appeal or protect against an appeal as a trial unfolds.
That being said, the majority of my cases wind up settling, and I consider an agreement a win more than I do than winning at trial.

Super Lawyer
I wish I could give Mr. Barics ten stars for all his help. He represented in an ugly divorce for years until 2017. I had some problems and contacted Mr. Barics for help. One hour later we spoke and got amazing answers to my questions all at no charge. Thank you so much, Mr. Barics, you are the bes...

Only wants money cares nothing for your case
Hired him to replace lawyer on my case. Worst decision ever. He did no work on the case. Would not even respond to emails from opposing counsel. After I told him I sought other counsel and no longer want his services he threatened to keep my file if I did not pay him $1000. Now he admittedly did NO W...
This person's name is Janeen S. Jones and she never retained me. She is also a disbarred attorney who lost her license due to reasons similar to what I experienced with her. Ms. Jones did sign a retainer and sent me her file, along with a retainer check. Due to her claims of a pending emergency, she wanted me to begin work right away which I did. I spent several hours reviewing her file and starting work on preliminary matters, including speaking to opposing counsel. I deposited the check, only to find out it was drawn on a non existing account. Since there was a chance the check contained a printing error in the account number, I gave Ms. Jones the benefit of the doubt and she agreed to send a replacement. For the next week I heard every excuse in the book. The replacement check was lost in the mail, her deliver service got lost, etc. Ms. Jones never explained why the check was drawn from a non existing account, which leads me to conclude it was intentional. When I told her that I would not do any additional work until she paid the retainer, she told me she didn't like my attitude and demanded I sent her the file back at my expense and all work I did even though I wasn't paid. When I declined to do so, she said I'd be sorry and apparently she posted this review. I did charge her the $1,000 for the work I performed before I found out about her fraudulent check. To this day, Ms. Jones has never paid me a single penny. The only payment she made was the check on the non existing account. Nor did she file any complaint or fee dispute. She has been reported to the appropriate authorities. The orders suspending Janeen S. Jones as a lawyer and disbarring her are public records and are found on the internet. One of the many links about Janeen S. Jone's disbarment is here: https://casetext.com/case/in-the-matter-of-janeen-s-jones-admitted-as-janeen-sykie-jones I would urge anyone who may do business with Janeen S. Jones to exercise extreme caution in dealing with her.

Better outcome than expected
I retained Mr. Barics to handle my case and the outcome was better than he had predicted when we first met. He spent a lot of time to learn about my situation and learned all the facts inside and out. His representation was cost effective and his communication was fast and prompt. Many thanks to Mr. ...
Thank you very much for the review. It is appreciated.

Worst divorce lawyer
My ex and I went through Doug for an uncontested divorce. He took the full retainer and failed to provide any service. For two years we had to chase him down with emails and voicemails and he would be absolutely unresponsive. He would not provide any guidance or explanation of the process along the w...
If you are who I think you are, the divorce took about seven years, not two, based on numerous changes requested to the underlying agreement. Following several revisions, which were done at no charge, the final judgment package was submitted and signed. The request for a full refund after the judgment was submitted was declined.
"I endorse this lawyer. We have been adversaries many times both at the trial level and on appeals, and Mr. Barics is smart, competent, and aggressive for his clients. I have recommended him in situations where I have had conflicts or did not otherwise accept a case."
"I have been acquainted with Doug for several years and have worked together on several matters. Doug is a diligent, excellent attorney that strives to achieve the best possible results for his clients."
"I have had a number of cases against Mr. Barics over the years. Doug Barics is a powerful advocate for all his clients while maintaining a level of professionalism admired by judges and fellow attorneys. Based upon my experience as an adversary attorney, I strongly endorse Mr. Barics."
"I am a practicing attorney in the field of Matrimonial and Family Law for over 35 years. I have been fortunate enough to have several cases as opposing counsel to Mr. Barics. He consistently represented his clients in the most professional and zealous manner. He always exhibited a strong courtroom presence and was clearly well respected by the courtroom staff and judges, and most importantly, his peers."
"Mr. Barics is an extremely knowledgeable attorney in various practice areas, allowing him to assist his clients across a broad spectrum of legal issues. I have worked with Mr. Barics on numerous matters where complex issues or high net worth clients were involved. He was an invaluable asset to the client in these matters and was a pleasure to work with."
"I am an attorney. I have co-counseled with Doug in some complicated divorce cases, and appeals, and found him to be highly knowledgable and thorough in his analyses of issues. Some of these are high stakes cases. One such case involved a judge evicting a husband from the family home. The judge's ruling was issued without proper due process. With Doug's legal know-how, I was able to successfully get the eviction over-turned on an emergency appeal and the husband was not evicted. Also, Doug is a strong advocate but without arrogance. I've seen him in action and he brings civility to the courtroom."
