Costly Bait-and-Switch Paper Mill Experience: Critical Knowledge Deficits, Late Disclaimers, and Unexecuted Deliverables

I strongly caution against using this firm for elder law. We paid $10,550 (~50% above competing quotes) for what was marketed as a comprehensive Medicaid estate plan. Instead, we experienced an abdication of core competency, with disclaimers of expertise appearing only after payment was secure—culm...inating in a sworn statement denying any obligation to provide comprehensive planning despite website claims. Persistent evasion of substance blocked attempts to resolve strategy concerns—leaving family assets exposed and forcing us to start over with new counsel. Specific technical and operational failures: • Unusable Drafts & Abandoned Execution: Zero documents were executed, leaving the package unfinished and out-of-state trustee packages unfulfilled. • Substantive Gaps & Tax Blind Spots: Failure to address basic Medicaid protections—including the Minimum Monthly Maintenance Needs Allowance (MMMNA)—along with misapplied caregiver exemptions and failure to address capital-gains and basis step-up implications. • Arbitration Discrepancies: Claiming to the panel a Zoom meeting and "innumerable" calls occurred, despite no Zoom meetings or substantive calls taking place—and producing deed transfer documents for the first time at the hearing itself despite failing to mention them informally. Unlike standard consumer products, legal services lack basic consumer protections, and a fee dispute ruling does not evaluate the merits of legal advice, strategy, or that substantive work was correct or had any market value. Any response pointing to that ruling is a hollow deflection designed to avoid all substance—mirroring the exact evasion experienced throughout our engagement and proving that their pattern of prioritizing reputation management and ego over client outcomes remains unchanged. Don't let the sales presentation fool you; this was a costly waste of time.

Thankful clients of BCF&B

Recently my father became very ill and we had to make the difficult decision to put him in a nursing home. If that wasn't hard enough we then had to start the arduous process of applying for Medicaid for him in order for my mom to be able to hang on to her savings, which she needed to stay in her h...ouse & keep up with those expenses. Thankfully, Josh & his dedicated staff, especially Julie, made that possible. He helped my mother, brothers & I understand the process and made sure we had all the legal documentation necessary for the future. He made a difficult time much less stressful and for that my family & I are extremely grateful.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
