Leo Stoller and Central Mfg. Co. filed suit for trademark infringement. Pure Fishing counterclaimed for cancellation, unfair business practices, declaration of vexatious litigant status, and liability ... on a prior, unsatisfied sanction award. As a sanction under FRCP 11, default judgment was entered for Pure Fishing, Inc. with an award of attorney fees totalling $967k. All appeals were dismissed. The petition for cert was denied. Stoller filed for bankruptcy under Chapter 13. Pure Fishing moved to convert to liquidation under Ch. 7 with the appointment of a trustee. The case was converted on Sept 1, 2006. Stoller's IP portfolio and corporate stock was sold to The Society for the Prevention of Trademark Abuse, LLC at auction in August 2007. All appeals were dismissed. The petition for cert was denied.
