Jon M Kessel

Jon M. Kessel received a Juris Doctor degree from Brooklyn Law School in 1996, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1993.

Mr. Kessel was admitted to practice in the State of New York in 1997, the District of Columbia in 1998, and in the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York in 1997.

Upon graduation from law school, Mr. Kessel began his legal career by representing both secured and unsecured creditors in Chapter 7, Chapter 11 and Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Proceedings, defending creditors in Federal Court in actions brought pursuant to the Consumer Credit Protection Action.  His practice was in both State and Federal Courts representing individuals and businesses.

Currently, Mr. Kessel concentrates in representing insurance companies in first-party insurance coverage matters, including cases of suspected fraud, arson and exaggerated claims/damages.   These claims include fraudulent auto theft claims, fraudulent burglary/theft claims, fire/arson claims, fraudulent water damage claims and claims involving exaggerated or fraudulent damages.  As a result, he has issued legal opinion letters regarding the liability of insurance companies regarding coverages and disclaimers of coverage.  He has successfully litigated and defended insurance companies in numerous actions brought in the New York State Courts.

Mr. Kessel is an accomplished trial and appellate attorney, having conducted numerous trials in the Counties of Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester, as well as the five boroughs of New York City. He has obtained jury verdicts in favor of his clients in cases of suspected insurance fraud.
