I recently represented a woman who was injured in a multiple car vehicular accident. The fact pattern is as follows: The client was a passenger in a vehicle that rear ended the vehicle ahead of them wh ... en that vehicle made an abrupt stop after being struck by a canou that flew off of a municipal park district trailer. She sustained herniated discs in her back (unoperated with $30,000.00 in medical bills). We sued the park district for its agent's failure to properly secure the canoe as well as our passenger's driver for failure to keep a proper lookout. Case resolved with the Park District and our driver's insurance company each paying $50,000.00 for a combined settlement of $100,000.00.
