A trucking company loaded its trailer with a large Caterpillar end loader in an upright position. The load was too high for an overpass, and the end loader broke into pieces when it hit the bridge. We proved to the insurance company that state and Federal regulations require that the driver measure the height of the load before going onto the highway.

A train tank car carrying butane was being cleaned after delivery. There was still butane in the tank, which was ignited by a spark from the train's engine. The explosion rocked the city of Gary, Ind ... iana. A worker standing nearby sustained flash burns from the explosion, and was airlifted to Loyola Medical Center's burn unit. We developed evidence that showed the company had skipped a step in the car cleaning process that would have burned off the excess butane, eliminating the risk of explosion.
