Boris Zivotov

Boris Zivotov is the founder and principal of Zivotov Law, a New York personal injury practice serving clients from offices in Brooklyn and Merrick. Admitted to practice in 1995, he has spent more than three decades representing people injured in motor vehicle crashes, construction accidents, unsafe premises, medical malpractice, and other serious incidents, including traumatic brain injury and wrongful death cases.

Mr. Zivotov is particularly drawn to difficult cases in which an injured person has been blamed or an important part of the story has been overlooked. His practice emphasizes careful investigation, direct attorney involvement, thoughtful case development, and candid communication with clients. Several of his appeals have produced decisions that continue to be cited as precedent.

Born in Ukraine, Mr. Zivotov came to the United States as a refugee at age 12. Before entering private practice, he worked to assist New York's Russian-speaking immigrant community through volunteer service and public outreach. He remains fluent in Russian and understands the practical and cultural challenges faced by clients navigating an unfamiliar legal system.

Mr. Zivotov earned his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 1994 and his B.A. in psychology from the College of Staten Island in 1991, where he graduated valedictorian. He has been active in state and local bar associations and has served in numerous leadership roles with the Bay Ridge Lawyers Association, including as president. Outside the law, he is a former competitive chess player who earned the title of National Master in 1989.
