My experience with Yuriy Yaroslavskiy

If you’re looking for a divorce attorney, I strongly encourage you to carefully consider your options before hiring Yuriy Yaroslavski. My experience with his representation was extremely disappointing and, ultimately, one of the biggest regrets I have from my divorce. Before I retained him, com...munication was prompt, reassuring, and I felt confident that my case was in good hands. Once I became a client, my experience changed significantly. Throughout the representation, I repeatedly had to follow up for updates, answers, and strategic guidance. These weren’t concerns I developed after the case ended—I raised them while he was still representing me because I often felt I wasn’t receiving the level of communication or legal guidance I expected from my attorney. My biggest frustration was the lack of proactive legal strategy. In many instances, I would receive communications forwarded from opposing counsel and then be asked what I wanted to do. I hired an attorney because I expected legal analysis, recommendations, and strategic guidance. Instead, I often felt responsible for organizing the facts, identifying issues, and repeatedly asking for direction rather than receiving it proactively. Communication was another major issue. When I asked questions about my own case, I often found the responses to be brief, dismissive, or lacking meaningful explanation. During one of the most stressful periods of my life, I expected a far more collaborative and supportive attorney-client relationship. The apartment dispute was a good example. I remained financially responsible for a rental while substantial arrears accumulated. I spent considerable time gathering documentation, communicating directly with building management, and working to resolve that situation. Throughout that process, I did not feel I received the level of strategic guidance or advocacy I expected from my attorney. I also questioned several invoices because I did not understand or agree with certain billing entries. To the firm’s credit, some billing adjustments were made after I raised those concerns. However, the overall experience left me questioning whether I was receiving value consistent with the fees I was paying. As my confidence declined, I ultimately decided to continue my divorce without this firm. Everything I’ve written here reflects my personal experience and is based on emails, text messages, invoices, court filings, and other correspondence that I retained throughout my case. Divorce is already one of the most difficult experiences a person can go through. In my experience, the legal representation I received made that process significantly more difficult than it needed to be. I cannot recommend Yuriy Yaroslavski based on my experience.

If I Could Leave Zero Stars, I Would

I hired Yuriy Yaroslavskiy to represent me in a divorce matter, and unfortunately my experience was extremely disappointing. Throughout the representation, I felt there was a significant lack of transparency. Communications with opposing counsel were often not shared with me in a timely manner, an...d I never felt I had a clear understanding of how my retainer was being used or why certain legal decisions were being made. I also felt that there was no clear strategy for my case. Important developments were not communicated promptly, for example, I was informed of my first court appearance only two days before it was scheduled. When opposing counsel sent a proposed settlement agreement containing several provisions I strongly disagreed with, I expected my concerns to be addressed and negotiated. Instead, I was advised to sign the agreement largely as written, despite clauses that I found unreasonable. Communication was another major issue. There were times when I waited a week or more for responses. While I was occasionally told that personal circumstances or travel were causing delays, I was rarely informed in advance or kept updated about what was happening with my case. What affected me most was the lack of support during an incredibly stressful period of my life. During one in-person meeting, I became emotional while discussing the fact that my husband had fired me from our jointly owned company and asked what options I had. The response I received was, “But you’re not going to be homeless, right?” Rather than feeling guided or advocated for, I left feeling dismissed. By the end of the representation, I felt completely alone in the process. I did not feel that my interests were being actively protected, and I did not receive the level of communication, advocacy, or guidance that I expected when hiring legal counsel. Overall, it was a very negative experience, and I cannot recommend his services based on my experience.

Highly Reccomended

When I was faced with a lawsuit, I was clueless on how to begin to defend myself legally. It's a big decision when choosing the right representation. Luckily I met with Yuriy and he defended me for almost 3 years. He is trustworthy, intelligent, down to earth and realistic. He gave me my options and f...ought hard on my behalf every step of the way from discovery to depositions. He was always in communication with me on the progress of my case. I highly reccomend him and if I should ever need future counsel, I would hire again.
