Very competent attorney

I had been considering putting the house into a life estate with both sons as the owners. The idea was to protect the house so the two of them could share in the proceeds of a sale. When looking for an attorney I came across an article by Esther Zelmanovitz regarding the unseen pitfalls of life estat...es. Having worked as a paralegal for 20 years I thought the article was quite enlightening. I showed it to an attorney friend of mine who was also thinking about doing a life estate and she too found it thought provoking. Based on this article I reached out to Ms. Zelmanovitz for a consultation. At the end of the consultation my wife and I were convinced that this was the attorney to handle our situation. During the process of putting our house into a trust Esther was very understanding of our needs, listened to, and answered our questions clearly. In general, she made sure that we understood what we were doing and that we were comfortable with our decision. She also drew up updated wills for us, HIPAA release forms, powers of attorney and healthcare proxies for both us. I would very highly recommend Ms. Zelmanovitz to handle your elder and estate planning issues. In fact I have already recommended her to two of my friends.

Makes the complexities understandable

I've had several elder law/Medicaid planning consultations from the best firms in NYC but have received conflicting information and no clear guidance. After speaking with Esther, I understood what the others lacked. They had knowledge but could not present it as clearly and cut through the complexi...ties to make them understandable. They did not have as extensive hands-on experience to inform me what happens in reality as opposed to the letter of the law. Finally, they did not take the time to tailor recommendations to my situation. I have finally found in Esther someone I can fully rely on and get some peace of mind!

Our appreciation

In 2019 we had the unfortunate situation because our brother suffered an accident that left him disabled and needing rehabilitation and eventually permanent nursing home care. Since he was alone in New York and all his relatives resided in other states, we urgently needed orientation to face this une...xpected situation. We contacted Esther Schwartz Zelmanovitz, PLLC who received us at her office for a comprehensive orientation. We had a very cordial reunion where after reviewing our situation, Mrs. Zelmanovitz presented us her recommendations and options for a plan to provide for our brother’s long term care and wellbeing. Since the siblings lived out of state it was of tremendous help that, after we retained the lawyers, they prepared all the necessary legal documents to allow them to provide for his care and application for Medicaid. For several months we were in communication by telephone and by emails as all the documentation necessary for the Medicaid application was gathered and organized. Finally we received the good news that he had been accepted for Medicaid thus assuring for his long term nursing home care. One of the best in the area, always follows up

I found to Esther Schwartz Zelmanovitz profile online and she seems to be one of the best lawyers in several areas, including Medicaid planning. I got a good impression the first time I spoke to her over the phone and she instilled a confidence in me about my case. She's very professional and punctua...l. When I spoke to her in person, she explained to me possible options and a clear plan step by step. Her office kept me in the loop with follow ups, I didn't need to call them to find out on my status. I find keeping a customer in the loop is one of the most important things when it comes to working with a professional lawyer, and Esther Zelmanovitz and her office are exactly that.
