About Joseph
Biography
Joseph Ranni concentrates on protecting the rights of individuals and empowering them to obtain the best legal solutions possible. He began his career in the New York City Metro area in 1987 as a litigator for employment and disability cases in state and federal courts while volunteering as a NYS Certified Nursing Home Ombudsman.
With the enactment of the American Disabilities Act in the 1990’s, Mr. Ranni felt there was a clear symmetry between disability and elder law. Believing that least restrictive living environments, self-facilitation and reasonable accommodation were a person’s rights regardless of the age, disability or circumstance of the individual, he chose to focus his practice on these issues.
Mr. Ranni is admitted to practice law in the States of New York, Florida, New Jersey and Pennsylvania and is a former Presiding Justice for the Town of Chester, NY. His client-centric approach looks beyond the disability and focuses instead upon the goals of the client for their future needs. He has been recognized by his fellow attorneys for the past several years as one of the Top Attorneys in Upstate New York and a Super Lawyer for peer recognition and professional achievement by the Thomson-Reuters Service.
Community Involvement: Mr. Ranni volunteers on several non-profit committees and local civic organizations, and provides pro bono legal work through advocacy groups throughout the region.

Our practice is focused upon employment discrimination, particularly in the area of disability, reasonable accommodation or retaliation.
Our focus is maintaining the maximum independence possible while providing for the oversight, authority and interventions for the protection of the individual and helping Guardians fulfill their obligations.
We assist clients in obtaining nursing home discharge, Care Plan compliance, and intervention to obtain access when there is abuse or neglect.
Advance Planning Directives are critical for many persons to obtain the assistance they need while retaining independent decision-making to the maximum degree. Wills, Health Care Proxies and Powers of Attorney provide the guidance for those we choose to provide that assistance.
