OUTCOME: IL Supreme Court affirmed finding of sexual abuse

Trial court found that child was sexually abused by father. He appealed. The Supreme Court found that hearsay statements of a minor admitted pursuant to the relevant section of the Illinois Juvenile ... Court Act may be sufficient to support a finding of abuse or neglect as long as there is corroboration that the abuse or neglect occurred. It is not necessary to independently corroborate the identity of the perpetrator.
