Petar Kresimir Vanjak

Petar Vanjak counsels clients in complex product and professional liability matters in state, federal, and foreign venues, and engages in dispute resolution through a variety of strategies, including mediation, arbitration, and litigation.

Petar recently achieved an exceptional result in a federal settlement conference in a case against a software developer involving professional liability and breach of contract claims. He also oversaw and assisted local counsel in an arbitration involving a highly complex engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning framework for an electric power plant. And, in litigation in a Canadian court involving professional negligence claims in connection with the construction of an ethanol production plant, Petar was able to ultimately settle the case favorably after mediation.

Before entering the legal profession, Petar spent several years in the United States Navy as a Fleet Marine Force (FMF) Hospital Corpsman in the 2nd Marine Division. As an FMF Corpsman Petar administered combat trauma care, performed routine sick call and diagnostic patient care, and instructed Marines on combat trauma treatment, and triage procedures. 

Petar, who is fluent in Croatian, earned his Juris Doctor from Pace University School of Law in 2006, where, as part of an international internship program, he presented comparative law conferences on common and civil law legal systems for the President of the Zadar Municipal Court in Croatia. The programs involved translating common law principles into the Croatian language.
