Proffesional, Knowledgeable, Responsive

I met Troy Smith after I was arrested for domestic violence. Right away he showed responsiveness when he agreed to meet me on a Sunday. At the initial meeting, Mr. Smith convinced me that he should represent me over the other lawyers I had interviewed. He stated that his fee was on a sliding scale.... Mr. Smith charged me a flat retainer to see the issue resolved, unless it went to trial. In that case, there would be another retainer negotiated. In short, Mr. Smith knew the Manhattan criminal system well enough to predict all the right moves required to get the case dismissed. He was responsive by text, voice and email. When we would meet at the courthouse, and I was especially nervous, he was friendly.

Simply put, he is a highly-skilled criminal defense attorney who cares deeply for his clients."

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
