I am a technologist, strategic advisor, patent attorney, and inventor of 111 US patents. My longstanding interest in economic theory leads to a unique perspective on the approach to intellectual property, while at the same time delivering quality work product.
Intellectual property has value only when exploited for public benefit (though in some cases, withholding a technology from the market to permit commercialization of a competing technology is a benefit), and therefore merely protecting an invention is insufficient. I assist companies, institutions, and individuals in planning and executing IP strategies seeking return on investment, including creating technologies, obtaining strong protection and enforcement, acquiring, licensing, brokering and selling IP. I am also available to assist in PTAB/IPR, judicial, and appellate proceedings. In all my projects, my focus is successful deployment of technologies in conjunction with a sound business plan, with economic justification, and likely eventual return on investment.
In addition to my focus on core disciplines (physics, electrical engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, material science, chemical engineering, chemistry, biology, biotech, environmental engineering, etc.), I specialize in interdisciplinary technologies, especially those merging life sciences and high tech. Among my areas of study are Internet/networking; communications; cognitive radar; lidar; MIMO communications; databases and information science; cryptography; cryptocurrencies; "smart" contracts; distributed ledger, VR/AR/MR; ad hoc communications; game theory; optimization theory; application of market/economic principles to engineered systems; human interface systems and ergonomics; automated control systems; data and image analysis; MEMS; nanotechnologies; medical devices; biotech; genetic engineering; pharma; drug delivery; and speech technologies.
