Decent lawyer helped with a case that had nothing to do with my original case for free

I hired Christopher Riley and I believe 1991. It was a case of negligence and personal injury while 8 months pregnant from my slumlord. Chris did everything he could including prepping me the evening before trial. Unfortunately my slumlord was involved with the mob and I ended up getting much less th...an I deserved. However my slumlord was willing to do anything to get me out of my rent controlled apartment and called CPS on me. I called Chris he calmed me down completely and the day that the CPS worker came he was at my house waiting for her. Within 45 minutes of the workers arrival my case was closed. That was the best part but the cherry on top was that he never charged me for that whole situation. He is a little pushy and sometimes communication was rough but isn't being pushy exactly what you want and a trial lawyer? It's been a long time but I have just referred my oldest daughter to Chris and hopefully he will be as kind to her as he was to me an extremely poor person working three jobs just to support my youngest.

Horrible communication skills / likes to run up billable hours/ inaccurate information - BE ADVISED ....

This hack was my divorce lawyer for a brief period , in 2014/15 . He would not listen to my ideas , and seemed most interested in keeping the case going much longer than needed. He wanted to dispose my ex wife , simply to rack up billable hours . I asked him a specific question relegated to the cas...e , and he gave me wrong information. He was very difficult to communicate with , and wound up drastically overcharging me. The money he claims I owe him is currently being disputed in the courts , which works to his favor cause he has plenty of time on his hands . I would suggest you seek another lawyer .

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
