An incredibly smart, strategic, effective, and caring lawyer

BriAnne Copp recently represented me in an extraordinarily difficult trial to determine the custody of my two-year old daughter ,whose mother had decided she wanted to leave the state with her. I cannot recommend BriAnne highly enough. Despite facing up to four lawyers at a time from one of the m...ost aggressive and highest paid matrimonial law firms in Westchester, BriAnne ultimately helped me achieve a 50/50 custody agreement—an outcome that at times seemed very unlikely, to say the least. What sets BriAnne apart is not just her command of family law, which is exceptional. She also understands something that is equally important in custody litigation: the human dynamics of the courtroom. She has an unusually sophisticated sense of the relationships among the judge, attorneys for the child, opposing counsel, and the parties themselves. She knew when an issue made sense to fight for, and when pushing harder would be counterproductive. She explained these to me and helped me to navigate those dynamics, or at least consider them when considering the law. That judgment proved invaluable in my case. When it became obvious that a sole custody determination would likely involve an appeals process and many more months in court for an uncertain outcome, she threw herself into a negotiated settlement. In the end, BriAnne spent session after session painstakingly negotiating with opposing counsel to construct a settlement that was sensible, balanced, and extremely difficult for the other side to reject because it made so much sense. The combination of her knowledge of family law, her ability to think strategically, her persistence, and a real sensitivity to what was at stake for me and my child, really set her a part. I am enormously grateful for her representation and would highly recommend both BriAnne Copp and Salzano Ettinger & Lampert to anyone facing a difficult family-law or custody matter.

Poor Quality, Poor Results

I was referred to BriAnne Copp through a coworker. Before my family custody court session, BriAnne negotiated a deal with the opposing attorney to lower my child support payments. While in court, the opposing attorney actually interrupted the session to state the terms of the deal which can be read i...n the transcript. Since I'm not an attorney I don't know any other way of putting it: Brianne Copp really really screwed up! Somehow, mom got her end of the deal BriAnne Copp negotiated but I never got my CS lowered. This will be costing me a minimum of $100,000. That's a whole hell of a lot of money for some one who makes about $60/hr. This is only where this disaster started. First, she lied to me telling me the deal wasn't done because there was some paperwork she couldn't find. About 7 months later I found it in one of her own emails. That was LIE #1 that I'm aware of.Jumping ahead, I had a 3-way with her and the co-worker who introduced us. During this call I found out that BriAnne Copp told him I "INSISTED" on representing myself (for a related court session which I thought was just a formality). This was LIE #2 that I'm aware of. The truth is I "ASKED" BriAnne if I could represent myself. I'm guessing she gave me this advice in order to distance herself from my case and her screw up. Otherwise, why would anyone recommend I represent myself in that specific situation. Her 3rd LIE that I'm aware of was telling the co-worker she "hadn't heard from me in a long time." The truth is, I emailed her twice about 6 weeks prior to which she never replied. This is tough for me to write. I'm not a malicious person nor do I generally wish ill will on any one, but when you royally screw up, lie to cover up your mistake and conspire with your co-worker which screws someone out over $100,000 then something has to be said. Something has to be done about it. I tried being appropriate by calling the co-worker to discuss her screw up but apparently they were ready for me and played the 'lie, deny and twist the facts' game.Unfortunately, all I can do now is write this review in hopes of warning any unsuspecting potential clients. That $100,000 was going into a 529 college tuition plan but that idea is gone. She basically got away with it. No recourse for her. Nothing.I almost forgot to mention this part...after her screw up, she was billing me for trying to fix her screw up.In short (too late), if you're thinking about hiring a family attorney, I wouldn't hire BriAnne Copp.
