I was charged with going 80 in a 65, which would have been my first-ever violation. I'm in my early twenties, and the car that I was driving wasn't mine--it was my mother-in-law's. I also wasn't in my home state; I was in New York. I had been driving for several hours at that point after visiting a f...riend and was very tired. Thanks to Mr. Lee Shelton, my 8-point speeding penalty [89mph in 55mph] was reduced to non-speeding disobeying traffic device violation which has a 2-point penalty. This is a very good outcome. I only had to pay a fine of 175$. If I had the 8-point penalty speeding violation instead, I would have had... to pay a fine of at least 693$ along with a driver responsibility fee of 450$ per year for 3 years.
