N/AOUTCOME: Client dismissed from lawsuit
On July 7, 2007, an explosion and fire occurred in a parked camper located at the Holiday Shores Camping Resort in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. The owners of the trailer resided in Berwyn, Illinois. P ... laintiff was in the trailer at the time of the explosion and suffered severe injuries. Plaintiff resided in Brookfield, Illinois. After the explosion, Plaintiff was med-flighted to UW Madison Burn Center. Plaintiff filed suit against multiple defendants, including the owners of the trailer, the camp site, the manufacturer of the gas range, manufacturer of the camper trailer, manufacturer of the gas regulator, and Reliable Gas. Reliable Gas supplied the 100 pound propane tank to the trailer. We were retained to represent Reliable Gas. As Reliable Gas is a resident of Wisconsin, we pursued a motion to dismiss for lack of personal jurisdiction. Upon filing, plaintiff dismissed Reliable Gas from the lawsuit. However, the co-defendants pursued their cross-claims against Reliable Gas. In the end, Reliable Gas was successful in its motion to dismiss for lack of personal jurisdiction.
