Very Poor Experience

Wachs was inexperienced in the area of law required for the case. He claimed he had the knowledge and skills necessary. He didn't. He was uncommunicative, made decisions on my behalf without asking me first, committed numerous ethical violations and overbilled.

The client, who lives in California, hired my firm to have a New York court appoint a guardian for her mother. I succeeded in having the court appoint both the temporary and permanent guardian selected by the client. Notwithstanding, the client continually bullied and harassed me and everyone else. While on a 14 day vacation, the client sent me over 130 emails. She demanded huge cuts in legal fees because, rather than have a witness sit in court all day, I scheduled his appearance for after lunch. She accused her mother’s court-appointed lawyer of providing inadequate representation. She accused the court-appointed temporary guardian of dishonesty to the court. The client, who claims to be a clinical psychologist, determined that the psychiatrist hired by the temporary guardian to testify as an expert was suffering “dementia” and demanded that the psychiatrist surrender his medical license. The judge eventually threatened the client with a restraining order. These are but a brief sampling of the client’s abusive and outlandish behavior. Copies of non-privileged documents will be furnished upon request.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
