At trial, Defendant offered their policy limits, but Jeremy rejected the offer and indicated he was taking the matter to verdict and pursuing a bad faith claim. At trial, Defendant suggested a verdict of $5,000.00, but the jury returned a verdict of $1,122,878. The case was the subject of a font page article in the Chicago Law Bulletin

As he was leaving work for the night, a police officer made and illegal turn into the police parking lot and crashed head on into the j ... anitor's vehicle. The Plaintiff thought he was ok and didn't go to the hospital. Over the next couple of days he had pain and went to his doctor. He was ultimately diagnosed with a herniated disc and had physical therapy and tried to go back to work. He continued to have pain and was unable to work and needed surgery. The City argued that the accident was the janitor's fault and had a team of police officers testify against him. The city argued that the janitor's injury was not related to the car accident and that he had problems all along. The City never offered a penny to settle the case and I took his case trial and received nearly $1,000,000.00 verdict for my client, the janitor which was paid by the city.
