No, it is not. My guess is that you authorized this when you signed up for their credit card.

In Washington state, the statute of limitations for debt is 6 years. Does this mean they can't collect from me after 6 years?

It doesn't mean either. They can still try to collect. They can even sue you. It's up to you to use the Statute of Limitations as an affirmative...

No, there is no tenant protection for this situation. Showing up at his creditors meeting will not change this. You'll just be wasting your time...
