There is no way to get a green card because you are here 10 years, so you did not get all of the story. Your child can file for you when they turn 21.

The joint sponsor does not have any decision making at all. They could be responsible if the person goes on state or federal benefits if the state...

You wouldnt be out of status if you were on a H4. Just file for a COS soon after you get laid off. Good luck.
