Peter D. Rigelhaupt has been representing injured New Yorkers since 1988. As a senior attorney at The Perecman Firm, PLLC, he focuses on serious personal injury, wrongful death, construction accident, and civil rights cases throughout New York City and the surrounding areas.

Mr. Rigelhaupt regularly represents union laborers, carpenters, and other tradespeople injured on construction sites, handling claims under New York Labor Law Sections 200, 240, and 241(6). He also represents clients injured in motor vehicle accidents, premises liability cases, defective product claims, and federal civil rights matters involving wrongful arrest and excessive force.

Before joining The Perecman Firm in 2007, Mr. Rigelhaupt spent several years defending attorneys in legal malpractice cases. That experience gives him a clear understanding of how defense firms and insurance companies evaluate and challenge injury claims, allowing him to anticipate strategies and prepare strong, trial-ready cases for his clients.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Rigelhaupt has secured substantial recoveries, including:

• $3,750,000 settlement for a laborer who fractured his ankle while moving heavy equipment in Manhattan
• $1,850,000 settlement for a client injured by construction materials that fell from a pallet

Mr. Rigelhaupt earned his Bachelor of Science in Political Science from SUNY Oneonta and his Juris Doctor from Albany Law School. He is admitted to practice in New York State, the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Eastern, and Western Districts of New York, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
