Ted received a telephone call at his home one evening from the wife of a gentleman who was injured in an oil field accident. She was frustrated because her husband was still hospitalized with a fractur ... ed back and she had no one to turn to. Ted visited the couple in the hospital and took the case without hesitation. The defendants claimed the accident was due to the client’s negligence. Ted filed a lawsuit and engaged the services of several experts. After months of intense and complicated litigation, Ted and his team were able to turn the tide. During mediation, a convincing scenario emerged. Ted presented evidence that illustrated the cause of the accident was the failure of the employers to properly maintain and inspect the oil well.

Ted Liggett was hired to represent a young family who underwent a horrific experience in the birth of their first and only child. This young mother had struggled unsuccessfully for years to have a chil ... d. When she was finally able to conceive, she presented to a teaching hospital for care. The young mother then suffered several instances of malpractice at the hands of her medical providers, who were for the most part young interns and residents training at a teaching hospital under the supervision of an experience physician. Primarily, her doctors misread the diagnostic test and opined that it was an ectopic pregnancy and that the pregnancy must be terminated in order to save her life. This was untrue. She was then administered drugs, that are commonly used in chemotherapy, to expel the fetus. This was not successful and it was then discovered that there was not an ectopic pregnancy at all. The young mother having struggled to have a child and not being informed of the damage that had been wrought by the drugs administered did not want to terminate the pregnancy. The pharmaceuticals administered to this young mother did not result in the termination of her pregnancy, however, they did result in the birth of a girl child who was blind, almost totally deaf, and severely damaged both physically and mentally. The damages in this lawsuit were capped at $1,000,000.00, which sum was finally tendered after intensive and laborious litigation

The grandmother suffered debilitating injuries as a result of a motor vehicle accident and her young granddaughter suffe ... red minor scrapes, contusions and, of course, was traumatized by the event. Although the other party was clearly at fault, his liability carrier theorized that pre-existing conditions related to the grandmother’s age and physical condition were the root of her problems. Ted Liggett filed a lawsuit and through diligent and hard fought steps finally brought this matter to trial. After the jury was seated, the liability carrier finally acquiesced and tendered the sum of $995,000.00 for the grandmother and the sum of $60,000.00 for the young child.
