John Philip Tumelty

A leader at Tumelty & Spier, LLP, John Tumelty has a storied legal background, beginning with excellence in academia at Fordham University (cum laude) and Brooklyn Law School, where he was among the top 10% of his class. After an internship with the Appellate Division, he forged a path in the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office, becoming Deputy Bureau Chief and overseeing major felony cases. He later joined Morris Duffy Alonso & Faley, LLP, representing top insurance firms. In 1998, he co-founded Tumelty & Spier, LLP, specializing in complex litigation for various professionals and entities, from local to international cases. Mr. Tumelty’s memberships in esteemed legal organizations and frequent conference participation demonstrate his commitment to staying abreast of legal innovations. As an educator, he has imparted knowledge as an Adjunct Professor, balancing his practice with service to the community, supporting charities like Calvary Hospital and the Boys & Girls Club of America.
